I can't turn on deposits
The Require deposits tickbox stays greyed out until two things are true: your Stripe account is active, and you have acknowledged the platform fee.
The Require deposits tickbox on Settings → Payments stays greyed out until two conditions are met. Helpfully, it tells you which one is missing — the text beside it changes.
The two conditions
- “connect an active account first” — your Stripe account is not connected, or Stripe has not finished approving it. Press Connect with Stripe, or Finish Stripe onboarding if you started and stopped. If you believe you have finished, press Refresh status — approval can land after you leave Stripe, and the badge needs re-checking.
- “acknowledge the platform fee first” — the account is active and you have not yet agreed to the fee OneReserve takes on deposits. Acknowledge it on the same screen. This is deliberate: a percentage coming out of your guests' money should never be a surprise found later on a statement.
It is on and still nothing is charged
Turning deposits on does not, by itself, ask anybody for money. A booking has to match a rule.
- Do you have any rules? The section says No rules yet — add one below if not.
- Does the booking you tested actually match? A rule restricted to parties of six will not fire for a table of two, and one tied to a shift name has to match that shift exactly.
- Was it a walk-in or a phone booking? Deposits are asked for on the guest-facing booking page. Staff creating a booking are not taken through a payment step.
The quickest check: open your own booking page as a guest and make a booking that should match. If the card step appears, everything is working.
