Deposits and no-shows
Taking cards, charging, and refunding.
- Should you use deposits?
Deposits cut no-shows and cost you some bookings. Worth it on the sittings that hurt when they empty; usually not worth it everywhere.
- Connecting Stripe
Deposits go to your own Stripe account, not ours. Connect it once from Settings, then finish Stripe's onboarding before anything can be charged.
- Card hold or prepaid deposit?
A prepaid deposit takes money now. No-show protection saves the card and charges nothing unless they fail to turn up.
- Setting deposit rules
A rule says who is asked to pay: by party size, by shift, or on one specific date. No rule matches, no deposit is asked for.
- Charging, refunding and releasing
Charge a saved card when you mark a no-show, refund a deposit from the booking, and release a hold you have decided not to use.
- What deposits cost you
Stripe takes its processing fee and OneReserve takes a platform fee on top. Both come out of the money before it reaches you.
